Changes:

• Performance enhancements from Andreas Hausladen:
  • Latest RtlVclOptimize.pas
  • Improved OpenStrSecII initialization performance
  • Reading articles is a little bit faster
  • The 100 ms delay when switching groups is only required if renaming a file fails.
• Cache file version so it’s not extracting it from the executable several times a second.
• Tweak hash table size and hash function so it has less collisions and faster threading.
• Reduce unnecessary disk i/o by preventing some unchanged messages to be saved when exiting groups.
• Prevent endless attempts to get message counts on some empty groups.

This is mostly a performance improvement release, no new fixes or features.

Changes:

• Added Andreas Hausladen RtlVclOptimize.pas, which should provide better performance.
• Added workaround for possible Access Violations when showing hints on multi-monitor setups, remote desktops or vnc sessions.
• Added workaround for main form not appearing at all when it was closed minimized.
• Fix bold/italic/underline highlights not working for first word on a line.
• Replaced SSL support from OpenSSL to OpenStrSecII. Increases about 1mb executable size, but does not require external DLLs.

I’m particularly interested for feedback on the SSL changes. Unreleased changes, available on subversion history, are the OpenSSL update to the latest version and the fix for potential deadlocks on Indy9 when loading SSL libraries, which have been obsoleted by the OpenStrSecII replacement.

Changes:

• Implemented View/Hide Messages Not To Me.
• Fix alignment of some controls in the post message form.
• When replying to a message on a branch ignored by the bozo bin, don’t ignore your own message (and the branch you started).
• Persist expanded/collapsed state on the groups tree between sessions if neither AutoExpand or AutoCollapse is set.
• Fix Paste Quote and Paste Selected Text as Quote to put the cursor after the quote when quote style is set to bottom.

Changes:

• Built with Delphi 2007 update 3, MainFormOnTaskBar=True, which should mean better Vista support (didn’t test it on Vista though).
• Fixed URL wrapping when posting, inspired by Wolfgang’s change (did it slightly different - don’t break if line contains :// and no spaces)
• Added Wolfgang’s patch for subject decoding.
• Changed to use system’s codepage as default display codepage on first setup, as happed with posting codepage.
• Added some question marks all around on dialogs where they were missing (oh, how this bugged me).
